Does anyone else feel like the globe is spinning a bit too fast? I know that each day has basically the same number of hours and weeks have the same number of days, but where did Summer go? It hasn't been that long since I was mowing grass and now I'm raking leaves that are falling quickly from the trees.
As we settle in to Fall and begin enjoying cooler days, I want to encourage you, and myself, to take some time each day to reflect on God's plan and purpose for being here on planet Earth. It seems that we can become so busy being busy that we find ourselves autopiloting our way through day after day. Is there more to life? I emphatically say, YES! God loves each one of us! He has a purpose and a plan. He tells us in scripture, "I know the plan I have for you." I hear Forrest Frank on the radio singing about God's way is better. He is right.
How long has it been since you took time to discuss life with the One who loves you? I am talking about God. He patiently waits for you with meaningful plans that can give peace and contentment in an unsettling world. Whether it's a verse, a chapter, or a whole book, I encourage you to pick up a Bible and see what you can find. The Gospel of John is an excellent starting place. Romans explains the christian life in a way that answers a lot of questions you may have. If you don't enjoy reading, get an app that will read it to you. If you aren't into 1600 English (King James Version) you might consider a new translation such as the ESV (English Standard Version). An App such as YouVersion will put the word right on your phone and give you access to the Bible through a a free download.
I also want to take a moment to invite you to church. If you are nearby, Independence Baptist is a small, friendly congregation where you can feel like family. If you want to you can check us out online by going to our Facebook page. Look for Independence Baptist Church of Richland. We are live for Sunday School, Worship, and Bible Studies. Then you can come in and find a seat and a friend.
Thanks for staying with me this far! Have a wonderful day and be kind to someone today.
Pastor John
