Pastor
John Dinwiddie
It was the first Sunday in October 2003 that I had the privilege of "filling in" at Independence. After that I served as interim from November 2003 until April 2004 when Independence felt led to call me as bi-vocational pastor. I have been so blessed to be a part of what God is doing in this wonderful church family. To be a part of such a kind, accepting, and loving family of believers is a bit rare in this day but it sure is good. If you are looking for a church home I would definitely extend an open-armed invitation to visit Independence Baptist Church! God is at work and I invite you to be a part of it. Each Sunday morning I seek to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit as we meet together for Sunday School and Worship.
To reach one life for Jesus. To bring one person to know Jesus as Savior and Lord of their life is fulfillment of my calling. To help Christians develop their relationship with Jesus and grow in their knowledge and commitment to His Word is my goal. If I can but train a few willing saints to become involved in touching other lives we will see more growth in the Kingdom of God.
Some count growth of a church as numbers on a board or dollars in an account somewhere. I really believe that God sees the individual growth of people in their Christian life as true growth. When we can have both happening we have experienced real growth.
"And He gave some, apostles; and some prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ;" Ephesians 4:11-12 is a great description of the purpose of the pastor and ministry workers. To develop the believers into a strong church; ready, able, and willing to reach the community and world for Jesus Christ.
I am committed to carrying out my calling for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Sincerely,
Pastor John Dinwiddie
